I'm a poet and didn't even... nah that's to cliché.

Just looking through some old school stuff I had saved on my computer... this popped up and I felt like it was a good time for me to share it to my adoring public. Dustin the Engineer of Poetry gives to you his rendition of the cliché: "Nice Guys Finish Last," in an Emily Dickinson-like style as ordered by his English teacher.

Nice Guys Finish Last

We are the ones who speak in silence
And remain in the shadows of those we love
While the distinct and defiant
Are chosen as those whom are superior and above.

Given the opportunity to please the ones we like
We take the path that is ideal for them
We refuse to make decisions that lead to fights
Their bliss is what we defend.

Love and acceptance is all we desire
But we are seen as reserves
Those who will always be there with a burning fire
Waiting for our chance to come up that we so deserve.

We do not want to believe that this is the truth
But as life passes us by a vision is cast
The reality hits us and our world goes “poof”
As we realize that nice guys finish last.

We try to transform into the ones we opposed
To get what we longed for from the start
But our new appearance is just a pose
And our true feelings flow from our heart.

True ecstasy will never be part of our life
For our heart felt decisions alienate our minds
Our desires and necessities become part of a mental strife
Love escapes us at every and any given time.
